Bokeh Game Studio released a10-minute developer diary video for upcoming horror action game Slitterhead, introducing the game’s setting of Kowlong. Creator Keiichiro Toyama revisits locations that have stuck on his mind for decades, serving as the inspiration for the game’s setting.
Kowlong is full of obscurity and chaos in Slitterhead, as the players enter the role of the “Hyoki,” an entity devoid of memory and physical form. The Hyoki’s motive is to eliminate Slitterheads, monstrous beings that disgust themselves as humans. Players will also seek human allies known as Rarities, who are capable of defeating Slitterheads in this neon cityscape.

Slitterhead is in development with Keiichiro Toyama at the helm. This is Toyama’s first project since leaving Sony’s Japan Studio in 2020, and it’s Bokeh Game Studio’s first project as a company. Moreover, Toyama is joined by former colleagues from Japan Studio, sharing the same vision for an up-and-coming game studio.
In September 2023, Bokeh Game Studio shared insight about the motion capture process for Slitterhead in a developer diary video. The video focuses on the work done by cutscene director Minoru Kusakabe, who previously worked with Toyama on the Siren and Gravity Rush series.
Lastly, Slitterhead launches on November 8 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. XSEED Games will sell a physical Slitterhead Day One Edition on PS5 for $59.99. The physical edition includes a physical copy, a 100+ page artbook, a sticker sheet, and original soundtrack CD composed by Akira Yamaoka.
