Bokeh Game Studio released a new dev diary video that shares insight into the motion capture process for upcoming horror adventure game, Slitterhead. Specifically, the video highlights a motion capture recording session from earlier in the year.
This past July, Bokeh Game Studio released a dev diary featuring alpha gameplay footage for Slitterhead. The footage gave fans a first glimpse into actual gameplay, but various systems are subject to change by the final release. Bokeh Game Studio’s latest dev diary focuses on creating the foundation for Slitterhead’s animation and cutscenes.
Slitterhead Dev Diary Dives Into Motion Capture
The latest dev diary begins with Slitterhead cutscene director Minoru Kusakabe, who previously worked with director Keiichiro Toyama on the Siren and Gravity Rush series. Toyama reached out to Kusakabe to work on Slitterhead after founding Bokeh Game Studio. Now, Kusakabe is working on the new title alongside cutscene technical artist Stephen Oberheim Jr. and other employees who are vital toward the pipeline of character model creation, motion capturing, and cutscenes.
In the motion capture process for Slitterhead, a team is responsible for directing actors in the motion capture process in order to create unique in-game animations and cutscenes. These scenes include falling off a bike, an intense fight between two people, sprinting down a path, and much more. Motion capture helps link animation data together, so it’s an important component of Slitterhead’s development. The game will include violent scenes and transformative scenes alike.

Slitterhead is currently in development with director Keiichiro Toyama at the helm. This is Toyama’s first project since leaving Sony’s Japan Studio in 2020, and it’s Bokeh Game Studio’s first project as a company. Moreover, Toyama is joined by former colleagues from Japan Studio, sharing the same vision for an up-and-coming game studio. Platforms and a release date for Slitterhead have not been announced.
