Netflix has announced that they will be making a new series based on Cyberpunk 2077. The series will be developed in collaboration with CD Projekt Red. It is currently unknown if it will serve as a sequel to their previous animated series, Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Further, Netflix has not yet confirmed if Studio TRIGGER will return to animate the series.

CDPR initially released Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020. Critics initially criticized it for its rushed release, game-breaking glitches, and failure to stay true to the game’s initial promise. However, CD Projekt Red recently released both Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0. The recent expansion and patch have completely overhauled the game’s mechanics and brought it closer to the game’s initial promise.
Further, in 2022, CD Projekt Red and Netflix released Cyberpunk Edgerunners, an anime from Studio TRIGGER that immersed fans once more into the world of Night City. The next entry in the series is simply titled Project Orion. CDPR will likely confirm more about the new Netflix series and Orion in the coming months and years.
