Entire Annapurna Interactive Staff Resigns After Dispute With Owner

This could mark the end of Annapurna as we know it.

According to a spokesperson from Annapurna Interactive, the studio’s entire staff has reigned after a dispute with its owner. The dispute came from negotiations between Megan Ellison, the CEO and owner of Annapurna, and Nathan Gary, the president of its gaming division. The latter had wanted to turn the gaming division into its own independent company. When Ellison pulled out of the negotiations, the company’s entire staff resigned.

Annapurna has created several popular games over the last few years. These include The Outer Wilds, What Remains of Edith Finch, Stray, Solar Ash, Neon White, and more. Recently, they announced a partnership with Remedy Entertainment to publish Control 2 and TV shows/movies based on both Alan Wake and Control. Further, they also announced a Blade Runner game in 2023. All of these projects are now in a state of limbo and their fates are unknown.

    About Stray

Stray is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Mac, and PC via Steam. The game will release for the Nintendo Switch on September 19. Here’s an overview of the game, via the official Steam page

Lost, alone and separated from family, a stray cat must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten city.

Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed, neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly. Roam surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by curious droids and dangerous creatures.

See the world through the eyes of a cat and interact with the environment in playful ways. Be stealthy, nimble, silly, and sometimes as annoying as possible with the strange inhabitants of this mysterious world.

Along the way, the cat befriends a small flying drone, known only as B-12. With the help of this newfound companion, the duo must find a way out.

Stray is developed by BlueTwelve Studio, a small team from the south of France mostly made up of cats and a handful of humans.
