Square Enix released the version 1.01 update for the Final Fantasy XVI demo on PC, improving its overall performance and addressing various in-game bugs. Players should noticeable improvements in their gameplay experience, ahead of the full game’s launch on September 17.
Update 1.01 makes major improvements to DLSS, FSR, and XeSS quality in the Final Fantasy XVI demo on PC, alleviating blurring and pixelation issues. The following issues have also been addressed, according to the patch notes:
- Dynamic Resolution being locked on the lowest setting.
- Enemies not appearing properly in certain battle content.
- Graphics not displaying properly on certain stages.
- Graphical tearing in certain instances when using borderless screen mode.
- SFX not playing properly under certain conditions.
- UI not displaying properly under certain conditions.
- Screen resolution changing under certain conditions.
- Rare instances of GPU crashes.
- Other minor issues.
Instances of stuttering are also being investigated by Square Enix, so a subsequent update to the demo may be coming soon.
Previously, Final Fantasy XVI director Hiroshi Takai said future Final Fantasy games are “possible, probably even likely” to arrive on multiple platforms, including PC, on day one. Square Enix’s new multiplatform strategy suggests day one launches on PC will be common.
Square Enix recently announced the PC version of Final Fantasy XVI, which launches September 17 for Steam. Two versions of the game will be available: a standard edition for $49.99 and a complete edition including all DLC for $69.99. In addition to Steam, Final Fantasy XVI will also be available to purchase on Epic Games Store.
