PLAYISM and developer Area-ZERO announced a free update for Touhou Project “high-speed aerial” action game Valkyrie of Phantasm will introduce full Japanese voice-overs, Network Mode implementation, and much more. The update is planned to release on September 10.
The update will bring full Japanese voice-overs to the story of Valkyrie of Phantasm. Valkyrie of Phantasm’s Network Mode will be updated to include 2v2 team matches and online room matching. Other features, including Ultimate spells, are also being planned.

- Hong Meiling and Mundrior – VA: Ai Yamamoto
- Clownpiece and Alvahel – VA: Hikaru Tono
According to the developers, there are several more updates being worked on. Players can expect a new single-player mode, more battle stages, new spells, and system/balance improvements.

Valkyrie of Phantasm entered early access on October 23, 2022 on Steam as the next major Touhou Project game at the time. Nearly two years after the initial release, the title will continue to receive free DLC characters in updates as the game heads closer to a full release. The full game is expected to release sometime in or after August 2024.
Lastly, Valkyrie of Phantasm is available now in Steam early access, and a 20% sale is live until August 14.
