Xbox has announced that they have delayed Avowed to February 18, 2025. The delay comes despite recent assurances that the game would still release in 2024.
Avowed is the first big RPG title from Obsidian since The Outer Worlds, which currently has a sequel in development. The last title Obsidian released was Pentiment. The game was originally slated for early 2024 then for late 2024. However, it seems that the team decided to further delay the game to allow for polish and a better final product.
Xbox Announces Avowed Delay, Now Releasing in Early 2025
Xbox has confirmed that Avowed will be delayed to February 18, 2025. The announcement comes courtesy of a post showcasing the company’s lineup for the rest of 2024. In the post, Xbox states that the delay is due to the desire for “to give players’ backlogs some breathing room.”
Later this year, Xbox will release expansions for World of Warcraft and Diablo IV will release later this year, alongside new games such as Age of Mythology: Retold, Ara: History Untold, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. At the time of writing, Xbox still has Indiana Jones and the Great Circle set for a 2024 release date. It is unknown if they will stick to that release date.
