Wolf & Wood and RapidEyeMovers announced C-Smash VRS New Dimension will launch on September 26 as free upgrade for all PlayStation VR2 owners to the PlayStation 5 game. New PS5 owners of the upcoming title will receive the PS VR2 version for free.

Before launch, BitSummit Drift attendees may try out a public demo from July 19 to 21 at the Miyako Messe in Kyoto. The demo is located at Booth E-05. Moreover, C-Smash VRS New Dimension’s developers reiterate that the game is playable on PlayStation Portal.

“I’m excited to be returning to Kyoto,” says RapidEyeMovers director Jörg Tittel. “It feels like a homecoming. We first reimagined SEGA’s Dreamcast and arcade classic Cosmic Smash for VR and versus gameplay and showcased it at BitSummit 2023. Now we’re returning to the game’s roots and native Japan. I look forward to making our labour of love available to millions of PS5 players in late summer.”

“It is exciting to know our first big, preview of C-Smash VRS New Dimension is going to give players a sample of what we have been working on,” says Wolf & Wood creative director Ryan Bousfield. “I hope New Dimension will invoke the feeling and pure playability of the original Cosmic Smash and other similar games from that era.”

Lastly, Limited Run Games will release a physical edition for C-Smash VRS New Dimension. The new physical edition will launch on the PlayStation 5 later this year, so stay tuned for more details.
