Riot Games has revealed a new character added to the roster of their upcoming fighting game, 2XKO: Braum. The character will be playable during the closed alpha test, which will start in August.
Project L was revealed to the world a few years ago, and fans have been hooked ever since then. After players played the game at EVO, there were questions about when more news on the game would be announced. Tom Cannon alleviated fans’ worries earlier this year by announcing that the game would get a new official name. They recently renamed it 2XKO and revealed the first gameplay trailer for the new character, Illaoi. Sign-ups for the closed alpha are available now.
2XKO Confirms New Character Who Will Be Available During Closed Alpha
Riot Games has confirmed that Braum will be added to the roster of 2XKO. The League of Legends website describes him as follows: “Blessed with massive biceps and an even bigger heart, Braum is a beloved hero of the Freljord. Every mead hall north of Frostheld toasts his legendary strength, said to have felled a forest of oaks in a single night, and punched an entire mountain into…” Check out the first trailer for Braum below:
Riot’s new fighting game, 2XKO, is an innovative free-to-play 2D fighter set in the League of Legends universe. It features 2v2 combat where each player controls a pair of characters from the game. It introduces a simplified control scheme with three attack buttons and easy-to-execute special moves, similar to Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. The game tries to aim for accessibility while maintaining depth for competitive play.
Additionally, the character roster includes familiar faces like Ahri, Darius, Ekko, and Yasuo, with more expected to be announced. Behind Project L are notable figures from the fighting game community, including Tom and Tony Cannon, founders of the EVO championship series and pioneers of the rollback netcode, GGPO.
2XKO will be fully released in 2025 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
