During Anime Expo 2024, VIZ Media has announced that they have acquired the distribution rights for the media franchise, RWBY. They have said they are looking into production of further seasons (or chapters) of the beloved series.
The late Monty Oum originally created RWBY at Rooster Teeth. The production company was created in 2001 and worked on several media franchises such as Red vs. Blue, Gen;Lock, and more. They also had a YouTube channel that focused on Let’s Plays. Warner Bros. shut down the production company in May 2024. The rights to RWBY have now landed with an unexpected party.

At the time of writing, RWBY is available to watch on Crunchyroll. They describe it as follows:
In a world filled with horrific monsters bent on death & destruction, humanity’s hope lies with powerful Huntsmen and Huntresses. Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long are four such Huntresses whose journeys will take them far past the grounds of their school, Beacon Academy.
Though each may be powerful on their own, these four girls must overcome dark forces and work as a team if they truly hope to become the next generation of Remnant’s protectors.
VIZ Media will likely reveal more details about the future of the RWBY franchise in the coming weeks and months.
