Here’s what Devolver Digital had to say about the new update in a Steam blog post:
“Summoned by blood and born in corruption, a wicked new ally can join the holy Lamb in LOCAL CO-OP! Crusade through dungeons, slay heretics, build your cult, and seek new powers together… But that’s not all!
“If you find yourself alone in this vast, dark plane of existence – fear not. There is much, much more in this update for you too
“Reach unholy enlightenment, and keep up to date all things UNHOLY ALLIANCE as we approach August 12th, in our Discord. Your presence pleases the Lamb… and Goat.”
Devolver Digital initially released Cult of the Lamb in 2022. As described on its Steam page, the game “casts players in the role of a possessed lamb saved from annihilation by an ominous stranger, and must repay their debt by building a loyal following in his name.” Cult of the Lamb has sold millions of copies in the years following its release, becoming a major hit for indie gaming fans.
