The development team for Persona 6 reportedly found inspiration in the Yokohama Monopoly board game, according to reputable SEGA and ATLUS insider Midori (@MbKKssTBhz5). This claim brings some speculation about the setting of Persona 6 to the overall discussion surrounding the game’s development.
As the name suggests, the Yokohama Monopoly board game focuses on the businesses and history of Japan’s second largest city. Midori posted images of the board game, which was an inspiration to the Persona 6 development team at ATLUS’ P-Studio. It’s unclear about what elements or themes from Yokohama Monopoly directly influenced the next Persona game, but it’s possible that the city could be the game’s main setting.

Midori clarifies further, claiming the Yokohama Monopoly images in the tweet were referenced by the development team. In addition, “Edge” is an internal name for Persona 6.
Atlus is using Yokohama Monopoly as a reference during the development of Persona 6.
And I did not choose this image as a hint. It is an image that is being referenced at Atlus.

Midori previously revealed a placeholder logo for Persona 6 from early in the game’s production. The logo includes a bright green background, which seemingly corroborates her previous claim about Persona 6 having a green theme / motif. This green theme was initially teased in Persona 25th anniversary artwork featuring the series protagonists with a green paint bucket.
Persona 6 development reportedly began in 2019 as part of the “next stage” for the Persona franchise, which involved the releases of Persona 3 Reload, Persona 5 Tactica, and Persona 5: The Phantom X.
ATLUS’s next release, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, will release on June 14 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Windows.
Persona 3 Reload Episode Aigis -The Answer- follows up this September, with Metaphor: ReFantazio launching soon after on October 11 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in fall 2024.
