The official website for the Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden Moyuru Honnōji franchise has announced a new prequel anime for the series. The prequel anime will air in Japanese theaters on August 16.
Touken Ranbu Moyuru Honnōji is a stage play that initially began in 2016. The stage play is based on the Touken Ranbu browser game from 2015 in Japan. The game released worldwide in 2021, but the English and Chinese versions were shut down. Fortunately, fans around the world may enjoy the series once more in the new anime.

The official website for the Touken Ranbu Kai: Kyoden Moyuru Honnōji franchise has announced a prequel anime for the series. The anime, titled Touken Ranbu Dōden -Chikashi Samuraira Umonora-, will air in Japanese theaters on August 16. Check out the promo for the series below:

The Touken Ranbu Kyoden Moyuru Honnōji stage play follows follows Fudō Yukimitsu, the (anthropomorphized) sword that real-life legendary leader Oda Nobunaga received from his attendant Mori Ranmaru.
The latest entry in the long-running Touken Ranbu series is Touken Ranbu Warriors, a Musou spin-off by Koei Tecmo, Omega Force, and Ruby Party. Touken Ranbu Warriors is available now for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam worldwide, and a free demo is available now. The upcoming prequel anime, Touken Ranbu Dōden -Chikashi Samuraira Umonora- will air in Japanese theaters on August 16.
