    Baki-Dou Anime Adaptation Announced

    The fourth arc of the beloved manga will become an anime.

    TMS Entertainment have announced that they will be adapting the fourth arc of the beloved Baki the Grappler series, Baki-Dou, into an anime. While the release date for the series is currently unknown, TMS have revealed a short promo video confirming the upcoming anime.

    Baki the Grappler is a manga serialized from 1991 to 1999. Several anime adaptations of the manga have been released. The first arc, second arc (Baki), and third arc (Baki Hanma) have all been converted into animation. Additionally, during AnimeJapan 2024, Netflix announced that they will release Baki Hanma VS Kengan Ashura. The series will be a crossover between the two titular franchises.

    Recently, TMS Entertainment announced that they will be developing an anime adaptation of Baki the Grappler‘s fourth arc. The arc, titled Baki-Dou, initially ran from 2014-2018. At the time of writing, the staff, cast, and release date for the adaptation are currently unknown. TMS will likely reveal more details in the coming months.     Taking place immediately after the “Strongest Parent / Child Quarrel” arc, Baki-Dou features Baki Hanma and his fellow fighters overcome with a sense of malaise until the legendary swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi, is revived in the modern day through cloning and necromancy at a secret base located 364 meters beneath Tokyo Sky Tree.

    Additionally, Baki Hanma, the most recent Baki the Grappler adaptation, is available now on Netflix. They have a description of the series available on their website:

    The Baki manga series, published in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion, is a mega-hit martial arts manga that has sold over 85 million copies. Baki tells the stories of various fighters, centered on the epic life-and-death clash between protagonist Baki Hanma, the youngest underground fighting champion, and his father Yujiro Hanma, the “strongest creature in the world.”

    Lastly, the Baki-Dou anime will release at some point in the coming months or years.
