During Xbox Partner Preview, Square Enix announced the Xbox Series X|S version of Final Fantasy XIV will launch on March 21, 2024. The full game launches exactly one month after the open beta test began on February 21.
The Final Fantasy XIV Xbox Series X|S open beta test began on February 21 at 12:00 a.m. PDT. It’s an exclusive open beta test for new players, so those who already have the Free Trial version or played Final Fantasy XIV on another platform are unable to use their existing account to play. Fortunately, the wait for the full release is coming to an end in just a few weeks.
Final Fantasy XIV Xbox Series X|S Launch
Final Fantasy XIV launches on March 21 for Xbox Series X|S with cross-play support for the existing PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC versions. The Final Fantasy XIV Free Trial will not require an Game Pass (Core or Ultimate) subscription to play. However, the full Xbox Series X|S version will require an Xbox Game Pass Core or Ultimate subscription.

A Life-changing Story Awaits Trailer
Players will embark on a new adventure in the continent of Tural in the Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail expansion this summer. Erenville and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn will join the Warrior of Light into this new land, but a new “contest” will divide the Scions into two opposing groups. Players must adapt to the unfamiliar terrain, make new allies, and discover the truth behind the conflict for the Mamool Ja throne in the new expansion.
Lastly, Final Fantasy XIV and the latest expansion, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, are available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail expansion launches in summer 2024 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
