What are Chocobo Carriages?
Interestingly, you can only fast-travel to locations within your current region. If you’re in Junon and want to return to the Grasslands on some business you’ll be sorely disappointed to find that you can’t just fast-travel there via your map. You’d have to trek back to that region through the Mythril Cavern. That would be waaaay too tedious. Luckily, there’s a way to unlock Chocobo Carriages, which will take you between the regions for a small fee.
‘Stuck in a Rut’ Quest
Once you have arrived in the Junon region through the Mythril Cavern you’ll see a nearby Chocobo Ranch. If you can’t pick it out in the environment just check your map for a green quest marker. This quest is given to you by Gabe, the owner of the ranch. He’ll request you to help him get some new parts for his carriages. You’ll need the Junon chocobo to progress this quest, as you must climb up some cliffs and sniff out some materials! Once you fulfill this request, you’ll gain access to Gabe’s Chocobo Carriage service. This service allows you to go between Junon and the Grasslands in a flash!
