Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End episode 24 is the “figuring it out” episode for everyone still fighting toward the bottom of the Ruins of the King’s Tomb. This episode made it apparent rather quickly that this endeavor will be an extreme challenge.
The episode began with Denken, Richter, and Laufen facing off against the Frieren replica. Their fight against the replica was short-lived, since the trio decided to retreat after becoming quickly overpowered by Frieren’s doppelganger. It’s clear that these replicas follow near identical thought patterns and behaviors to their actual counterparts, so the group needs a solid plan.
The Replicas Take Center Stage in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Episode 24
Übel and Land are also caught in their own dilemma in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End episode 24, since the Übel replica is a menace. However, Land’s magic allowed him to gain the upper hand, casting illusory magic that catches the replica off guard as Übel lands the final blow.
Unfortunately, Edel’s chances at becoming a first class mage are essentially over, since her group ran into a replica of Sense, the exam’s proctor. This was the first look into Sense’s incredible magic potential, as the replica wounds Edel with a well-timed strike. Although Edel is out of the exam, her teammates are able to escape and look for other mages in order to formulate a strategy.
Meanwhile, Frieren, Fern, and Sense uncover a secret mural depicting the king’s ancient dynasty. Their journey in the tomb finally intersects with Denken’s group, as they’re thinking of a plan to defeat the Frieren replica. Although the group doesn’t find any leads for a while, they eventually determine that brute strength may be the only way to defeat the replica. Fern volunteers, since she has the strongest raw magic output out of the group.
Episode 24 is an action-packed episode with a lot of setup for what’s to come in the next episode. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End episode 25 will deliver an intriguing bout as Frieren and Fern will both take on the Frieren replica in a battle of epic proportions.
