Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Demo Update Brings Visual Quality Improvements

An update coming to the full game, too.

Square Enix announced the upcoming “Dawn of a New Era in Junon” update for the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo will bring visual quality improvements to the “Performance Mode” settings. These improvements will also be applied to the full game, which launches on February 28.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth doesn’t need a formal introduction, as it’s one of the most anticipated releases of 2024. Players will soon explore the world outside of Midgar in the full game, and the free demo is already available on PlayStation 5 for those who don’t want to wait.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Demo Update Will Fix Performance Mode

Following the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo’s release, fans noted that the game’s visual quality was less than desirable in Performance Mode due to low resolution textures and other oddities. Fortunately, the February 21st update will apply improvements to Performance Mode in the demo. An update will be available in the full game to address this same issue as well.

Thank you all for sharing your feedback on the demo, game director Naoki Hamaguchi said on Twitter, “We are planning to have a patch to address this issue not only for the final game but also for the demo. With this, I hope you can check out how the game is before the launch! Thank you.”

The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo is available now with an early portion of the game’s story and content. Transfer save data from the demo to full game to unlock the Kupo Charm and Survival Set. On February 21, the demo will receive an update titled “Dawn of a New Era in Junon” featuring a section of the Junon region around the harbor town.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is set to launch exclusively for PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024. The title will be exclusive to the platform until May 29, 2024. A Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and Collector’s Edition are available to pre-order now.
