    Gundam SEED Freedom Becomes Highest Grossing Film in Franchise

    The staff of the recently released Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom film revealed that it has become the highest grossing movie in the series. It has sold 1.63 million tickets for 2.68 billion yen (about US$17.94 million) as of Monday.

    Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Freedom is the long-awaited sequel to the SEED Destiny anime series. The original series ran from 2004-2005. The new movie will pick up right from where SEED Destiny left off with Kira Yamato and Lacus Clyne serving as the two main characters once more. The Western release date for the film is currently unknown.

    In a recent report from the staff of the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom film, they confirmed that it has become the highest movie in the entire franchise. It has topped Gundam III: Encounters in Space after just eighteen days in Japanese theaters and over $17.94 million in ticket sales. The statistic will likely continue to grow in the coming weeks.
