Toei Animation has announced a new CGI movie titled Hypergalactic. The film will feature an all-star cast and will be co-created by the designer behind Sonic the Hedgehog, Naoto Ōshima.
Hypergalactic comes off the heels of a very successful past few months for Toei. With the release of Digimon Adventure 02 The Beginning and more releases of the beloved One Piece anime, Hypergalactic is set to be another big addition to the company’s massive repertoire.
Hypergalactic, a New CGI Film from Toei Animation, Revealed Alongside Cast and Staff
Toei Animation recently announced a new CGI film titled Hypergalactic. A recent article from Deadline outlines more details about the upcoming film. David N. Weiss (The Smurfs) will direct the movie. Japanese artist Naoto Ōshima (Sonic the Hedgehog) and Joseph Chou (Ghost in the Shell) will co-create the story and characters. Additionally, the movie will also star the following cast members:
- Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect)
- Elsie Fisher (Despicable Me)
- J.K. Simmons (Invincible, Spider-Man, Whiplash)
- Sam Richardson (Veep, Afterparty, Critical Role)
The story of the film is described as follows:
The family film follows an adventurous teenage girl (Fisher) and her baby brother in the not-so-distant future, after they liberate the forgotten protector of Earth, Ohkan (Devine), in the hopes that he can help reunite them with their missing parents. Together, the unlikely trio sets off on a surprise-filled journey, discovering the deeper meaning of family along the way.
