Iron Galaxy has announced that they will begin a test for ranked crossplay in Killer Instinct on February 9. The test will last until February 12 at 8 AM PDT.
Killer Instinct is a beloved fighting game released on the Xbox One. Microsoft and Double Helix launched the game in 2013 before Iron Galaxy took over Seasons 2 and 3 development. Fans have been hoping for a sequel to the Xbox Series X|S for years. A November 2023 update breathed new life into the game by introducing balance changes for several major characters.
Killer Instinct Testing Out Ranked Crossplay This Weekend
In a recent blog post, Iron Galaxy announced that they’d be testing out ranked crossplay for Killer Instinct this weekend. The test will begin on February 9 at 12 PM PDT/3 PM EDT. It will then end on February 12 at 8 AM PDT/11 AM EDT. Crossplay will be supported between PC and Xbox One/Series X|S players. More details about the test and its caveats are available via the blog post:
- Ranked Leaderboards for both Xbox/Windows and Steam will remain separate.
- This is a necessary compromise for us to allow Ranked Crossplay.
- Example: If a Steam player gets a win over an Xbox player, the Steam player will gain points for the Steam Leaderboard, while the Xbox player will lose points for the Xbox Leaderboard.
- During this test window, the Block Cross-Network Play function will be bypassed in Ranked mode only. By playing Ranked, you are opting in to playing Cross-Network during this time. Other online modes are not affected.
- If you are an Xbox player concerned about performance while playing against PC users, remember: Both the Windows and Steam versions of the game require players to pass a performance test requiring 60 FPS before playing online, ensuring that your matches will feel great.
Lastly, Killer Instinct is available now on the Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox One.
