After investing $1.5 billion for a stake in Epic Games, Disney will be collaborating with the company on a new experience coming to Fortnite. Additionally, they have released a teaser video and a blog post hinting at what fans may expect from the “all-new games and entertainment universe.”
Over the years, Fortnite has collaborated with several massive media properties. Examples include My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, Dragon Ball, Attack on Titan, Naruto, Star Wars, Marvel, and more. The latest chapter introduces characters from Metal Gear Solid, Family Guy, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the franchise of the same name.
Disney Collaborating with Epic Games on New “World-Class Games Experience” Coming to Fortnite
In an official announcement, the Walt Disney Company revealed that they have invested $1.5 billion for a stake in Epic Games. Further, Disney announced that they will be collaborating with the company on a “new persistent universe” coming to Fortnite. At the time of writing, Disney has revealed little concrete information about the upcoming experience. The little we do know according to the announcement post is as follows:
In addition to being a world-class games experience and interoperating with Fortnite, the new persistent universe will offer a multitude of opportunities for consumers to play, watch, shop and engage with content, characters and stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar and more.
Players, gamers and fans will be able to create their own stories and experiences, express their fandom in a distinctly Disney way, and share content with each other in ways that they love. This will all be powered by Unreal Engine.
