The official website for the upcoming mahjong anime, Pon no Michi, recently revealed the series’ opening theme in a new promo. The first episode of the series will air this Friday, January 5.
Pon no Michi focuses on a high school student named Nashiko Jippensha. The student, kicked out of her house, learns that the mahjong parlor that her father used to run is now vacant. She fixes the mahjong parlor and turns it into a place where she and her friends can have fun, cook, have tea, and sometimes play mahjong. One of the recent trailers detailed one of the series’ characters, Haneru Emi. The new promo shows off the openig theme.

The website for the upcoming mahjong anime, Pon no Michi, revealed a new promo for the series. The promo previews the series’ opening theme. Professional mahjong player and former Nogizaka46 idol Kana Nakada feat. Pon no Michi All Stars will perform the OP, “Ponpopopon.” Check out the new promo below:
Pon no Michi will air this Friday, January 5. The cast of the upcoming series includes:
- Kaori Maeda as Nashiko Jippensha
- Iori Saeki as Pai Kawahigashi
- Shion Wakayama as Izumi Tokutomi
- Yui Kondou as Riche Hayashi
- Akio Ōtsuka as Mahjong spirit character, Chonbo
- Hibiku Yamamura as Haneru Emi
IIS-P is the author of the original story. Tatsuma Minamikawa is directing and writing the Pon no Michi anime’s scripts at OLM. Negi Haruba will draft the original character designs, and Kenji Ōta is the animation designer. The anime’s composers are Yūko Takahashi, Takuma Sogi, hisakuni, Rico Ohashi, Kanji Eguchi, and Shari. Halca will perform the ending theme, “Good Luck Waker.”
Pon no Michi will air this Friday, January 5. The anime’s staff will likely reveal more details about an English dub and distributor in the coming weeks.
