Studio Ufotable and Type-Moon have shared the second trailer for the upcoming Witch on the Holy Night anime film. The film was originally revealed two years ago on December 26, 2021. A 15-second preview was shown off, featuring Alice and Aoko walking through a field full of white flowers. News has been radio silent since then, but we finally received a new trailer today.
Witch on the Holy Night, or Mahoutsukai no Yoru, is set in the late 1980s and follows Aoko Aozaki, Alice Kuonji, and Soujyuro Sizuki. The film is based on the visual novel of the same name, which received an HD remaster last year with a voice cast. We reviewed the title and stated it “is an easy recommendation for those who are fond of visual novels.”
New Witch on the Holy Night Trailer Details
The trailer focuses heavily on environments, such as the house where Alice and Aoko live. Additionally, we finally see both Alice and Aoko in action through various scenes towards the end! This trailer confirms the movie will at least adapt through Chapter 5, known for the Kitsy Land events.
Studio ufotable is responsible for the animation of this film. The studio has a long-standing relationship with Type-Moon, being responsible for the production of Fate/Zero, Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, and the Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel movie trilogy. Additionally, ufotable animated eight the Garden of Sinners movies. Alongside their Type-Moon works, the company is also known for their work on Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
A release date or staff has yet to be confirmed with this new trailer. It’s yet to be seen if this project will end up being multiple films or just one, but based on the source material, it seems likely at least one more film will follow the first.
Witch on the Holy Night is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. Stay tuned for more details on the film in 2024.
