Honkai: Star Rail Team Visits Falcom, Open to Game Collabs

An exciting RPG crossover is possible.

The Honkai: Star Rail development team from HoYoverse visited Nihon Falcom in September, and Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo is open to the companies working together for future game collaborations, according to denfaminicogamer. This opens the possibility for Trails characters such as Rean Schwarzer, Van Arkride, or even Estelle Bright to join Honkai: Star Rail, if the companies move forward with concrete plans.

Honkai: Star Rail is a space fantasy turn-based RPG that takes some inspiration from Falcom’s Trails series. The game’s director, David Jiang, is a big Trails fan with Tio Plato being one of his favorite characters. Naturally, the director’s previous remarks caused a lot of speculation regarding future crossovers.

Falcom and Honkai: Star Rail / HoYoverse Collabs are Possible

Denfaminicogamer’s interview highlights the relationship between HoYoverse and Falcom. When the interviewer asked about a collaboration between Falcom and HoYoverse, Toshihiro Kondo essentially said that Falcom is “always ready” to collaborate. Kondo and Jiang did not further elaborate on any collaboration events for Honkai: Star Rail, however.

Currently, HoYoverse is preparing for the release of Honkai: Star Rail Version 1.6 on December 27, as it’s the year’s final update for the popular RPG. In Version 1.6, players are called back to Herta Space Station to deal with an anomaly that Ruan Mei encountered. Moreover, several limited-time in-game events will be held throughout January 2024 leading into the release of Version 1.7. Honkai: Star Rail is currently available now for Android, iOS, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Meanwhile, Falcom is busy preparing and developing multiple new games alongside The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki -Farewell, O Zemuria-, including an unannounced Trails game, a new action RPG, and the Nintendo Switch version of The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak, and more. The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak will release in English in summer 2024. Lastly, The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki -Farewell, O Zemuria- will release sometime in 2024 in Japan.
