Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Substories, Personality & Bonds Detailed

    Hawaii is full of opportunities.

SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio revealed new details about Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, including substories, Ichiban’s personality, and the bonds system. Several new screenshots offer insight into the side content that players may explore in January 2024.

After learning about his mother’s potential whereabouts, Ichiban Kasuga heads to Honolulu, Hawaii to get some answers. While in Honolulu, Ichiban gets in trouble, but Kazuma Kiryu comes to save him from a long-term stay in jail. While adventuring in Honolulu and Yokohama, players may experience new substories, level up Ichiban’s personality stats, and build the bonds between the party members.

Meet the People of Hawaii in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Substories

In Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, substories introduce weird and zany characters that ask Ichiban for assistance in certain situations. For example, the Close Encounters of the Bird Kind? substory sees Ichiban encounter a girl that claims her beloved pet chicken has been abducted by a UFO. The police shrug off everything she says, and Ichiban decides to lend his assistance. He explores a park that appears to be a hotspot for UFO activity, and he sees a cow floating up toward a mysterious light.

In the “Home to Roost” substory, Ichiban wakes up on a Hawaiian beach. He feels heavy when we wakes up and realizes that a baby bird is now nested on top of his head. The baby bird refuses to leave, so Ichiban rushes to reunite the bird with its mother.

    Personality and Bonds

Players may boost Ichiban’s personality traits by completing substories, mini-games, and other activities in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. These personality traits include Passion, Confidence, Charisma, Kindness, Intellect, and Style. By improving these traits, Ichiban may gain new jobs, interact with new people, and unlock new events.

Ichiban and Kiryu may deepen bonds with their friends, and more jobs and abilities may be unlocked by reaching certain bond levels. One of the many benefits of increasing bond levels including attack chaining in battle. Players may nurture these bonds by chatting at restaurants in Table Talk, playing mini-games, giving friends gifts, and initiating Walk & Talk events.

The Bond Bingo system keeps track of the many Walk & Talk events, allowing players to learn more about each character. Complete a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal row to strengthen those bonds immensely. Special stories known as Drink Links may be experienced after reaching a certain bond level.
