NEXON and NEXON Games announced The First Descendant will launch in summer 2024 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The upcoming title is state-of-the-art and created in Unreal Engine 5.2.
Previously, NEXON revealed the PS5 features supported by The First Descendant including DualSense capabilities and performance modes. An crossplay open beta test was held from September 19 to 26, allowing players to sample portion of the full game’s content, such as 4-player online co-op and strategic boss battles.
The First Descendant Summer 2024 Launch Window
Over two million players tried out The First Descendant crossplay open beta test. Feedback gathered from the open beta test helped determine the summer 2024 launch window. NEXON Games will provide fan-requested improvements in the full game, including higher mission variety, more content in the fields, improved performance, and a better user interface. Game producer Lee Beom-jun highlighted some of the updates and changes in Dev Note Vol. 6.

The First Descendant is a next-generation third-person co-op action RPG looter shooter featuring high-quality graphics developed using Unreal Engine 5. In the game, players become a Descendant whose mission is to combat against alien invaders – The Vulgus who crossed dimensions over 100 years ago and brought with them the devastating Colossi and destruction– for the survival of humanity and to protect Albion and the continent of Ingris.
Players will encounter spectacular stories as they grow stronger through various missions and raids to finally discover the Descendants’ secret. Cooperation is crucial as players team up with one another in strategic 4-player boss fights where teamwork and tactics are key. New equipment, materials, and items obtained through a myriad of missions and boss fights will contribute to players’ character development.
