Nintendo has announced that they have cancelled their Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo event due to threats towards tournament staff and spectators. Additionally, they have delayed the Splatoon Koshien 2023 National Finals event.
Nintendo Live is “an all-ages celebration of Nintendo fun, whether you’re new to the games, characters, and worlds of Nintendo or are a lifelong fan.” Fans can enjoy live stage performances, watch tournaments, play games, and more. The last iteration of the event was set in Seattle, with the next iteration to be set in Tokyo. Additionally, the Splatoon Koshien 2023 event would’ve began next week. Unfortunately, Nintendo has cancelled Nintendo Live 2024 and delayed Splatoon Koshien 2023.
Nintendo Live 2024 Cancellation Details
Nintendo, via an official press release, officially announced that they have cancelled the upcoming Nintendo Live Tokyo 2024 event. Additionally, they have delayed the Splatoon Koshien 2023 tournament event. The national finals was scheduled to take place on December 16-17 at the Ota City General Gymnasium.
The Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo Event was scheduled for January 20-21 and would have hosted the “Splatoon 3 World Championship 2024″ tournament, as well as the “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Online Challenge Final Stage” and “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe World Championship 2024″ tournaments. All three tournaments have been postponed.
