Bandai Namco Filmworks and Sunrise have released a key visual for the upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam Silver Phantom VR Anime project. The immersive experience will be available soon on Meta Quest devices.
Gundam has had a very busy last few years. Several projects have been released and are in-development, such as Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans G Urðr-Hunt, and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom. Bandai Namco Filmworks will likely reveal more information on all the projects mentioned above in the coming weeks and months.
Mobile Suit Gundam Silver Phantom Key Visual
Recently, Bandai Namco Filmworks has revealed a key visual for Mobile Suit Gundam Silver Phantom. The visual depicts the cockpit of a mobile suit. Bandai Namco initially announced the project during Anime NYC 2023. During a panel, they announced that it and virtual reality (VR) production company Atlas V are co-producing a feature-length VR anime titled Gundam: Silver Phantom. Pierre Zandrowicz of Atlas V and Ken Iyadomi of Bandai Filmworks announced the project alongside an exclusive trailer.
The original Mobile Suit Gundam anime is available in its entirety on Crunchyroll. They describe it as follows:
Universal Century 0079. The rebel space colonies of the Principality of Zeon launch a war of independence against the Earth Federation, using humanoid fighting vehicles called mobile suits to overwhelm the Federation Forces and conquer half of Earth’s surface.
Months later, the Federation has finally developed its own prototype mobile suits at a remote space colony. But when the colony suffers a Zeon surprise attack, these new weapons fall into the hands of a motley crew of civilians and cadets. Fate places a youth named Amuro Ray at the controls of the white mobile suit Gundam…
Lastly, Mobile Suit Gundam Silver Phantom will be available on Meta Quest devices sometime in the next year or so. Additionally, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Freedom will premiere in January 2024. While the premiere date for Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance or Silver Phantom is currently unknown, Bandai Namco Filmworks will likely reveal more details in the coming months.
