    Junji Ito Visits Bokeh Game Studio in New Golden Hour Video

    Two legendary horror creators sit down for a drink and chat.

    Bokeh Game Studio published a new “Golden Hour” episode featuring legendary horror manga artist and author, Junji Ito. In this new episode, Junji Ito and Bokeh Game Studio founder Keiichiro Toyama discuss the horror genre, their past works, and so much more. 

    Junji Ito has built a cult following through his incredible works like Tomie and Uzumaki, with the latter receiving a new anime series. This works have also inspired games such as WORLD OF HORROR. Toyama is another horror pioneer thanks to his work in Silent Hill and SIREN.

    Bokeh Game Studio Brings Junji Ito in for Golden Hour 

    In the latest Golden Hour Episode, Junji Ito and Keiichiro Toyama discuss elements of mystery and horror in their respective works. The two creators also discuss and elaborate on the story telling process and themes of their works. For example, Ito started with a spiral theme for Uzumaki before diving deeper into cosmic horror. Ito also notes that Hibari Comics and H.P Lovecraft serve as inspirations for his works.

    In the previous episode, Keiichiro Toyama sit down for a chat with Kazutaka Kodaka. Kodaka discusses his role as a writer and director on the Danganronpa franchise at Spike Chunsoft and how his role may change depending. For instance, being a director for Danganronpa involves production and budget management, whereas directorial duties at other studios may vary slightly depending on the project. Toyama and Kodaka also discuss some of the intricacies of game development in the modern era. 

    Slitterhead is currently in development with Toyama at the helm. This is Toyama’s first project since leaving Sony’s Japan Studio in 2020, and it’s Bokeh Game Studio’s first project as a company. Moreover, Toyama is joined by former colleagues from Japan Studio, sharing the same vision for an up-and-coming game studio. Platforms and a release date for Slitterhead have not been announced.
