After nearly seven years of service, Square Enix is shutting down the Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia mobile RPG on February 29, 2024. All sales of in-game currency (gems) have ceased with the announcement on November 29, 2023.
Released on February 1, 2017 in Japan, Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia enjoyed success for several years with countless post-launch updates. Most recently, Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia players enjoyed the Autumn Festival last month with free first 10+1 multi draws and other rewards. However, this is now one of the game’s final events as Square Enix prepares to sunset the game.
Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia Reaches End of Service
The official Twitter account and support website for Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia confirms that the global and Japanese versions will shut down on February 29, 2024. Square Enix states that the company concluded that it was no longer possible to provide service for the game going forward. This is likely due to declining revenue over time, which a primary cause for gacha titles being shut down.
All sales of gems have been disabled, and Square Enix encourages fans to use any remaining gems while the game is still in service. In Japan, refunds will be given for any unused gems after the shutdown. More details about the refund acceptance process will be revealed at a later date.
