Personas are the namesake of the Persona series. They are manifestations of the mind that are bestowed upon certain people to aid them during their own personal struggles against fate. Typically, the ability to swap Personas is locked to the protagonist. However, in Persona 5 Tactica, this has been retooled. How do Personas Work in Persona 5 Tactica?
In Persona 5 Tactica, every Persona wielder has their main Persona and a Sub-Persona. Sub-personas tack on additional stat buffs and skills on top of main Personas, so there’s no worrying about having to exchange one character’s strengths to cover more bases. You can obtain gears from battles that contain Personas. Said gears can also be fused to create even stronger Personas.
Combat
The main boon Personas gives you in Tactica are new skills. These are either battle spells that can even out an ally’s kit or Passive Skills that can provide some awesome extra effects.
Stats
Every Sub-Persona will give their wielder extra stat points. The four stats are: HP, SP, Gun Damage, and Melee Damage. Factor this into your builds by providing characters with a proper Sub-persona to make the best use of them as possible. —
How to Fuse Personas
In order to unlock Persona Fusion you must progress in the story far enough. You can start fusing stronger personas after Mission 8. Then, after Mission 23, you can begin performing Special Fusions. All it takes to get gears is to just play normally and maybe occasionally replay missions. Just pop by the Velvet Room when you’re at your hideout or Mission Preparation screen in order to fuse Personas.
