Nihon Falcom released its financial results for fiscal year ending in September 2023, revealing that the next Trails game will release by the end of September 2024 in Japan. Two Nintendo Switch games are also being developed in-house.
Ys X: Nordics was the final release for the fiscal year ending in September 2023. The game was developed with Nintendo Switch in mind, and Falcom appears to be moving ahead with more Switch games and the next Trails installment.
Falcom Developing New Trails and Switch Games
The next title in the Trails series is in development at Falcom, and the company plans to release it before the end of the current fiscal year, which ends next September. This title will more than likely be the third entry in the Calvard saga, The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki 3. Falcom teased fans after the end of The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki II -CRIMSON SiN-, so this news is not too surprising.
Moreover, Falcom plans to develop two Nintendo Switch games internally just like the studio did for Ys X: Nordics. This includes the Nintendo Switch version of The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak, which is known as The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki for Nintendo Switch in Japan. The company did not reveal any more details, however.
A recent App Store listing suggests that The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel Northern War will release on December 6 on Android and iOS in Japan. This title will fall into Falcom’s current fiscal year, and a release outside of Japan was not announced.
Lastly, The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak launches in summer 2024 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam in the west. Read up on Final Weapon’s reviews of Falcom RPGs below.
