SEGA Sammy published its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year ending in March 2024, revealing that the Persona series sold over 700,000 units from July 1, 2023 to September 30, 2023. This is an increase of sales performance from the first quarter of the same fiscal year.
In the first quarter of FY2024, roughly 630,000 units for the Persona franchise were sold. It was a strong first quarter for the series, but the third and fourth quarters are expected to yield millions of additional sales. The second quarter shows an upward trajectory for the Persona series leading into the release of Persona 5 Tactica.
Persona Series Moves Over 700,000 Units in Q2 FY2024
Approximately 750,000 units were sold for the Persona series between July 1 to September 30, 2023. This brings the franchise’s total number of copies sold to 1.38 million for fiscal year ending in March 2024. No new Persona titles were released in Q2 FY2024, so the latest data consists of repeat sales (i.e. Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal)
SEGA Sammy reiterates that total sales of the Persona 5 series are currently at over nine million units. Moreover, the company notes that titles released in the previous fiscal year are still performing well. For example, the Persona 5 Royal remaster is experiencing strong repeat sales in Asia. SEGA plans to launch the service of Persona 5: The Phantom X, which was licensed out to Perfect World. Regions and a release date have not been determined yet, however.
The next major Persona release for the current fiscal year is Persona 5 Tactica. Following Persona 5 Tactica’s release, SEGA and ATLUS will release the highly anticipated Persona 3 remake, Persona 3 Reload, on February 2, 2024. These titles are expected to be increase sales by a notable amount.
