Insomniac Games has announced that Spider-Man 2 will not have New Game Plus or Mission Replay at the game’s launch. Both features will be available in the coming weeks and months. Spider-Man 2 will be available on the PlayStation 5 tomorrow.
Spider-Man 2 is the long-anticipated follow-up to 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man and 2020’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Fans can expect plenty of new suits and abilities to appear in the title. Additionally, Insomniac recommends downloading the day-one update for improved performance in opening segments. The day-one patch will not include New Game Plus or Mission Replay.
Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus and Mission Replay Will Be Available After Launch
James Stevenson, Insomniac’s Director of Community and Marketing, revealed the news in a tweet. He stated that they’re “working on an update for these features [New Game Plus and Mission Replay], but they won’t be in Day 1.”
2018’s Spider-Man also did not have New Game Plus at launch. Spider-Man: Miles Morales did contain the mode, and its completion was required to 100% complete the game. At the time of writing, it is unknown when the features mentioned above will be added to the game.
Spider-Man 2 will be available tomorrow on the PlayStation 5. According to a recently released trailer, the game is described as follows:
Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, return for an exciting new adventure in the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise for the PS5 console. Nine months after the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, we find Miles still enlisting Peter’s help, but when the mysterious symbiote appears, Peter and Miles’ relationships are put to the test.
Peter begins to change as he gains symbiote powers, and Miles, Mary Jane, Harry, and the rest of the friend group must help Peter while also facing the impending threats from a cast of new villains like Kraven, Lizard, Sandman, and Venom!
Lastly, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be available exclusively on the PlayStation 5 on October 20.
