A Xbox Series X console refresh has been leaked alongside a new controller in a set of recently surfaced FTC documents. The console will be digital-only and will supposedly be released in Late 2024.
2023 has been Xbox’s biggest in years. Alongside Bethesda, they released both Hi-Fi Rush and Starfield. Additionally, the United States Court officially approved the company’s acquisition of Activision. Expect Xbox to reveal more information on its future hardware and gaming lineup in the coming months.
Xbox Series X Console Refresh and Controller Leaks
In the newly leaked documents and pictures of the new Xbox Series X and controller, their features were fully outlined. The Xbox Series X Refresh will feature the following:
- 4K Gen9 Console Gaming
- More Internal Storage (2 TB)
- Faster Wi-Fi
- All Digital
- “Beautiful and Innovative New Design”
- $499
- “All-new southbridge to modernize IO and sustainability efforts”
- BT 5.2 radio for improved accessory experiences
- 6nm die shrink for improved efficiency
Additionally, more details about their latest controller, nicknamed the Sebile, were also revealed:
- Direct-to-Cloud
- Bluetooth 5.2
- New Mobile App Features
- Precision haptic feedback
- VCA haptics double as speakers
- Accelerometer
- Quieter buttons & thumbsticks
- Rechargeable and Swappable Battery
- New modular thumbstick
- “Lift to wake”
The leaked documents have not yet revealed the release date of the brand-new controller. While Xbox has not officially confirmed the console and new controller, they will likely officially announce it before the end of the year. Microsoft revealed the Xbox Series X in late 2019 and released it alongside the Series S in 2020. If the Refresh releases in 2024, it will have been four years since both the Series X|S launched.
Aside from the Series X Refresh and new controller being leaked, several upcoming games from Bethesda Softworks’s lineup have also surfaced. These include Dishonored 3, Fallout 3 Remaster, and DOOM: Year Zero. Bethesda and Xbox will officially reveal these games soon.
Lastly, Starfield, Bethesda’s most recent game, is available now on the Xbox Series X|S and PC.
