Magicians Dead: Force of the Soul Releases December 2023 in Japan

Release date is set after several delays.

Oizumi Amuzio and Byking announced team-based battle action game Magicians Dead: Force of the Soul will release on December 28 in Japan. The game will finally be available on PlayStation 4 after several delays.

This past April, Oizumi Amuzio and Byking delayed the release of Magicians Dead: Force of the Soul to fall 2023. The publisher cited “development-related delays” as the reason for the game being pushed into the fall. Today’s announcement moves the game out of fall 2023 and into winter 2023, but this may be the last delay.

Magicians Dead: Force of the Soul Release Date is Set

Magicians Dead: Force of the Soul will release on December 28 for PS4 in Japan and a physical release was confirmed. The digital version costs 6,800 yen, while the physical standard edition costs 7,480 yen. A limited edition will be available for 9,900 yen featuring a special box, original art book, and an acrylic panel.

Here’s a translated overview of the new title, via Gematsu:

Easy to Get Into for Action Shooting Game Newcomers

Magicians Dead: Force of the Soul is a competitive team battle action game in which “magicians” and “psychics”—characters that possess different powers—fight it out in three-on-three matches.

To make it easy to get into for users who are not good at action shooting games that use a third-person perspective, the difficulty level of some operations have been adjusted, such as being able to switch targets with the press of a button and auto-aiming.

Play Solo or With Friends in Heated Team Battles

In addition to the single-player mode, the core appeal of Magicians Dead: Force of the Soul lies within its online battle mode. There are plenty of modes in which you can fully enjoy team-based battles, including “Ranked Match,” in which rankings are reflected in the match results, and “Casual Match,” which was not available in the arcade version and allows you to play in three-on-three, two-on-two, or one-on-one matches.

A Fully Voiced, Completely Original Story Mode

“Single-Player Mode” features a “Story Mode” that was not featured in the arcade version with a completely original story for each character. The story is fully voiced with returning voice actors from the arcade version, allowing even those playing Magicians Dead for the first time to not get left behind and better understand the game’s world.
