In an interview with PS Blog, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Director Naoki Hamaguchi teased that the game will feature a new summon. This summon is one that was not present in the original Final Fantasy VII.
Hamaguchi also answered other questions about Rebirth today, including detailing the new Synergy system. The new trailer today showcased both Alexander and Odin. These two summons were not in Final Fantasy VII Remake. Other summons like Knights of the Round, Hades, Titan, and more could either be in Rebirth or the final remake title.
Rebirth Will Contain a Summon Not Found in the Original Final Fantasy VII
This new summon was not specified, but it is exciting to think about the possibilities. The development team is sure to surprise. Below, you can view Hamaguchi’s answer to the summon question.
And viewers caught a glimpse of Alexander and Odin! Can we expect more returning summons from FFVII for Rebirth and will any summons from Remake return?
Hamaguchi: There will be many other summons in the game, in addition to those that have already been revealed in our previous videos, with some also returning from Final Fantasy VII Remake. In fact, the lineup of summons has actually been fleshed out over and above the previous game, with new, extended side content based on a summon who did not feature in the original Final Fantasy VII and even more besides.
Tetsuya Nomura also answered questions from PS Blog today. One of the biggest questions he got was about party members. Nomura stated that Rebirth will have “accompanying members” in the style that Red XIII was in Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will release on February 29, 2024. The game is a PlayStation 5 exclusive. However, exclusivity will run out on May 29, 2024. This gives a three-month exclusivity period for the title.
