THQ Nordic has announced that Alone in the Dark will be delayed to January 16, 2024. The delay ensures that the upcoming horror game won’t have to compete with the dozens of other games set to release in October 2023.
Alone in the Dark is the latest entry in the classic survival horror franchise of the same name. The game will feature several famous actors, such as David Harbour and Jodie Comer. THQ Nordic has elaborated on its reasons for delaying the game in a new press release.
Alone in the Dark Delayed
In an official tweet, THQ Nordic confirmed the upcoming release’s delay. They clarified their decision in a press release. They state that their “intention is to avoid competing with the wake of Alan’s epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man. We aim to truly remain as Alone in the Dark as possible.
To honor this, the spine-chilling horror game has been rescheduled to unveil its horrors on January 16, 2024. This extension will serve a dual purpose: not only will it permit us to meticulously perfect the gaming experience, but it will also grant us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the remarkable releases of October.”
THQ Nordic would’ve initially released Alone in the Dark alongside several other major games in October. These include adventure games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, platformers like Super Mario Bros Wonder, and other horror games like Alan Wake II. The delay gives the upcoming release more room to stand out and reach a bigger audience. THQ will likely reveal more information on the game’s mechanics and story in the coming months leading up to its new release.
Lastly, Alone in the Dark will release on January 16, 2024. The game will be available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
