NetherRealm Studios has revealed that Shao Khan and Sindel will be part of the base roster of Mortal Kombat 1. They also announced two new Kameos: Motaro and Shujinko. Further, they demonstrated how returning character Raiden will function in the upcoming title.
Mortal Kombat 1 is the latest game in the beloved Mortal Kombat franchise. The game features several returning characters from both recent and old titles. Additionally, Mortal Kombat 1 introduces a new mechanic, Kameos. Kameos function similarly to assists in Marvel vs. Capcom and the upcoming Project L. In the most recent trailer, more details about both Sindel and Shao Khan were revealed.
Shao Khan and Sindel in Mortal Kombat 1
Shao Khan in this game is titled “General Shao.” He is a prolific yet brutal general serving Outworld and has been chosen as the latest Mortal Kombat tournament champion. He wields a battle axe and his fists to deal massive damage against his opponents.
Sindel is the Queen of Outworld. She functions similarly to prior games, using her hair as an attack. She also has projectiles and an install super that allows her to upgrade to a more powerful form. Sindel and Shao play a significant role in Mortal Kombat 1, with the latter as a primary antagonist.
Lastly, the new trailer detailed Raiden’s electric move set. We see him summon copies of himself in a fatal blow that will utterly destroy his opponents. Based on the trailer, he seems to be Earthrealm’s chosen champion in Mortal Kombat. Fans can also expect some interesting Kameo characters like Motaro and Shujinko.

Additionally, the first Kombat Pack has been revealed. It includes Homelander from The Boys, Omni-Man from Invincible, Peacemaker from Peacemaker, and Ermac, Quan Chi, & Takeda.
Lastly, Mortal Kombat 1 will release on September 19. The game will be available on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5.
