Kiryu becomes a Daidoji Faction agent to fill the void left after severing his past in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. In a story told after Yakuza 6 and before Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the iconic protagonist is forced back into the fray in Sotenbori. While working as an agent in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, he will meet several key figures that call Japan’s underworld their home.

Fans in the west may try out a Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name demo at Gamescom 2023 next week. The new title will be playable alongside Persona 5 Tactica and Persona 3 Reload. Moreover, Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live will have world premieres and updates for existing games on August 22.
