Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Producer Teases ‘Brand-New Chapter’

    A new adventure awaits someday?

Square Enix shared new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles 20th anniversary artwork by Toshiyuki Itahana and a special message by producer Akitoshi Kawazu. In the message, Kawazu wants fans to trust that one day, a “brand-new chapter” for the series will come.

Nearly three years have passed since the release of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition, and today marks two whole decades since the game’s release for Nintendo GameCube. Although Remastered Edition was quite lackluster at the time, many fans still hold onto hope that a new game may come.

Brand-New Chapter for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

In a new blog post, Kawazu feels regret for not being able to deliver a new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles game. The producer is very busy, and he believes the characters deserve their time in the spotlight once more with a new adventure. Although he can’t announce anything now, he ensures that new trials for the cast will await them. He even assures fans that a “brand-new chapter” will be added to their adventure someday.

Here’s the full excerpt from Kawazu and the new 20th anniversary artwork by Itahana:

“It’s the 20th anniversary of FFCC,” said producer Akitoshi Kawazu. “Personally, I feel regret for not being able to satisfy the fans who have been holding out hope for an all-new FFCC game. While there’s so much I’d like to do, I just can’t find the time to do it all. I know that the characters deserve to shine again, yet I’ve been unable to provide them with another adventure. They’re eager to set out to discover the true meaning of the crystals’ blessing, and much like those of us who were cooped up at home for the past few years, they could only gaze up at the skies above their respective towns, day after day. But new trials do await them—ones from which they will grow stronger. Please trust that one day, a brand-new chapter will be added to their adventure.”

“I’m thrilled to have the honor of drawing an illustration for the 20th anniversary of FFCC” said art director Toshiyuki Itahana. “Many of these characters I hadn’t drawn in so long that I couldn’t help but feel like I was reuniting with old friends I hadn’t seen in forever.”

Finally, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition is available now for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
