Bandai Namco has officially released a 12-minute gameplay showcase of Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. The trailer reveals more of what to expect from the upcoming mecha title regarding gameplay, story, and level design.
Armored Core 6 will release on August 25, 2023. It marks the first new entry in the action-packed franchise in almost ten years. The developer, From Software, has used all of the lessons they’ve learned on Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring to make this the best and most exciting Armored Core game to date.
Armored Core 6 Gameplay Showcase
The showcase opens with more about the game’s premise. The protagonist is an independent mercenary sent to Rubicon III. Your goal is to recover a precious mineral named Coral. From there, the preview goes on to reveal how levels work. The open world of prior From Software games has been traded out for individual levels. Instead, there are open areas with a lot of room for exploration. Players have access to an aerial boost that will allow them to traverse the many biomes of Rubicon within moments.
Additionally, From Software revealed more information about the game’s fast-paced combat. Players can use a mix of melee and ranged attacks to defeat other Cores and enemies they may encounter on the journey. There’s also a stagger meter, similar to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and other From Soft games. It allows you to stun your enemies and deal debilitating damage to them with just a few attacks.
Bandai Namco and From Software also demonstrated the game’s customization options. Those who wish to express themselves with the creation of their mechs are in luck. Players can tailor their Core’s legs, arms, weapons, body, and even the head to suit their specific playstyle. The combat, customization, and level design have positioned the upcoming Armored Core as a return to form for the franchise.
