Developer Acquire is currently developing seven new games, including a joint project with Aniplex. BitSummit Let’s Go!! attendees recently saw a teaser for this new joint project while trying out new indie games in Kyoto this month.
Acquire’s most recent game, Akiba’s Trip: Undead and Undressed Director’s Cut, will release on August 1 in the west. However, this title is not one of the seven new games. In a new interview with Famitsu, Acquire president Takuma Endo details the circumstances for some of the new games and what fans can expect.
Seven New Games by Acquire
As mentioned briefly, one of the new games by Acquire is a joint project with Aniplex. Acquire and Aniplex’s new game was initially teased through a new Twitter account (@amuamu_usagi) and BitSummit Let’s Go!! flyers reading “See you soon….” with an illustration of a maid. According to Endo, more details about this particular game will be revealed in the winter.
Three of the four games have already been revealed: XALADIA: Rise of the Space Pirates X2, Class of Heroes 2 Remaster, and AMEDAMA. AMEDAMA is being developed in partnership with IzanagiGames, and Endo describes the game as a “somewhat unusual arrangement.” The president confirms that development resources for the title were at capacity, however.
One of Acquire’s unannounced titles is a “cute but quite difficult” dungeon crawler that tells the story of a girl who awakens in a dungeon. The girl is an ancient weapon that seemingly employs the use of magic.

The sixth new title is a new game with deck building card-game elements. Internal beta testing is underway and the reception has been positive thus far. Acquire is considering a Japan-only physical release alongside a worldwide digital release. If the game sells well in the west, Acquire might consider doing a physical release overseas. More details about this title will be revealed at Tokyo Game Show 2023.

Finally, Acquire plans to exhibit the seventh unannounced title alongside XALADIA: Rise of the Space Pirates X2 at PAX West 2023 this September.
