Level-5 Launches Yokai Watch 10th Anniversary Website

Celebrate with a free wallpaper and movie commentary.

Level-5 have opened the official 10th anniversary website for Yokai Watch, and celebrations with fans of the series will be underway during all of July. July 11 marks an entire decade since the original Yokai Watch launched on Nintendo 3DS, and Level-5 will celebrate in a variety of ways.

Level-5’s official Yokai Watch Twitter account revealed that the new 10th anniversary website is now live with a special logo. The company thanks Yokai Watch fans for a decade of support in both Japanese and English, which might be a great sign of things to come. In Japan, the company will celebrate the anniversary by hosting giveaways on its social media channels, offering free wallpapers, distributing special LINE stickers, and hosting digital Yokai Watch sales in the Nintendo eShop. Moreover, the newly launched Yokai Watch 10th anniversary website includes a schedule for the “Yokai Film Festival” and a timeline of the series thus far.

Yokai Watch 10th Anniversary – Yokai Film Festival

From July 11 to July 25, all three Yokai Watch movies will be streamed on the official Level-5 YouTube channel. 2014’s Yokai Watch: The Movie will premiere first, followed by the subsequent movies in the following two weeks. Each film will be viewable for only two weeks following its premiere on YouTube, however. Voice actors from the movies will provide audio commentary with each film. These voice actors include Etsuko Kozakura (Jibanyan), Haruka Komatsu (Keita), Aya Endo (Koma-san), and Megumi Han (Koalanyan).

Kozakura, Endo, and Han will also host a weekly web program on Level-5’s YouTube channel from July 14 to July 28. During the web program, the voice actors will discuss all things about the Yokai Watch franchise. However, no new announcements for the Yokai Watch series appear to be on the way.

The latest game in the long-running Yokai Watch series is Yokai Watch Jam: Yokai Academy Y – Waiwai Gakuen Seikatsu. Yokai Watch Jam: Yokai Academy Y – Waiwai Gakuen Seikatsu released on August 13, 2020 for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Japan, and the game is not available in the west.
