Marvel has a busy lineup planned for 2023 and beyond. Not just in terms of movies but in terms of video games as well. From Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine to EA’s Iron Man game, Marvel has several games currently in development. Here’s an overview of just a few upcoming Marvel games releasing over the next few years.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
The next game Marvel has in development is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Releasing on October 20, 2023, the upcoming game is the sequel to 2018’s Spider-Man and 2020’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The sequel will feature several new characters like Kraven, Venom, and the Lizard. It will also include new gameplay mechanics like the symbiote suit and web-wings from the comics and other media. If you’re a Spider-Man, Marvel fan, or even a PlayStation fan, Spider-Man 2 will be the game for you.
Marvel’s Wolverine
Wolverine is the other game that Insomniac currently has in development. At the moment, there’s no release date or gameplay information. What we do know, based on industry insider Jeff Grubb, is that the game will be rated M, feature slightly open-world mechanics, and potentially release in 2024-2025. Expect to hear more about Wolverine later this year or early next year.
EA Motive’s Iron Man Game
Another upcoming Marvel game is an Iron Man game developed by EA Motive. Motive is known for its work on the Dead Space Remake and Star Wars Squadrons. Not much is known about the upcoming game, only that it is currently in development and will be made in Unreal Engine 5. But with EA Motive’s excellent track record recently, the new Iron Man game will likely be another fun Marvel game.
Amy Hennig’s Untitled Marvel Game
Amy Hennig is working on a Marvel game with Skydance Media. A trailer was released in late 2022 that revealed the premise. The game will feature several playable characters, including Black Panther, Captain America, a “soldier,” and a “spy.” Supposedly, the game takes place during World War 2. Further, the enemy faction Hydra seems to be a primary antagonist in the upcoming release. While it is unknown how the game will play or what the story will hold, it looks to be an exciting deviation from other Marvel games in the industry.
EA’s Black Panther Game
Lastly, EA has officially announced that they are working on a Black Panther game. Developed by new studio Cliffhanger Games and featuring talents from God of War and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, the game will be a single-player third-person action game. The upcoming release will mark the first time Black Panther has had a game focused entirely on him. While a release date is currently unknown, fans can expect the new Black Panther game to be a thrilling look into the world of Wakanda.
