    River City: Rival Showdown Coming to PC, PS4, and Switch

    Updated release of the 2017 Nintendo 3DS beat 'em up.

    In the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, Arc System Works revealed River City: Rival Showdown is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. The updated title launches on October 12 worldwide with a number of notable improvements. 

    River City: Rival Showdown includes an enhanced screen layout and controls on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam. The bonus 2D fighting game titled Fighting of Double Dragon 2016 has also been upgraded to Fighting of Double Dragon 2023 to reflect the new release later this year. The Japanese release is priced at 3,740 yen, and the worldwide release is priced at $24.99. The game supports English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese language options. 

    River City: Rival Showdown’s enhanced release comes a little over a year after the worldwide release of River City Saga: Three Kingdoms. This Kunio-Kun retelling of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms teaches fans about this period while being a fun 2D beat ’em up with strategic elements. River City Saga: Three Kingdoms is currently available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam.

    River City: Rival Showdown, released in Japan to celebrate the Kunio-Kun series’ 30th anniversary, takes the original story of River City Ransom and adds multiple story paths, multiple endings, and a dynamic fighting system that evolves the Kunio-Kun series in a new, exciting direction!

    One night, Kunio is attacked by two mysterious individuals. On top of that, Riki’s girlfriend has disappeared, and it’s up to Kunio to find out the truth! Kunio has just three days to unravel the mystery, and he’ll need your help to take down all who stand in his way. Take on some familiar faces from the River City games and meet new ones in this fast-paced beat ’em up RPG.
