More information about the upcoming Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising has been revealed at Anime Expo 2023. Cygames have extensively detailed many new mechanics players should expect from the forthcoming release. They also announced a brand new character joining the fray named Nier.
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is a follow-up to the 2020 fighting game Granblue Fantasy Versus. The updated version will include new modes and features, such as rollback netcode and crossplay functionality. The upcoming fighting game is set to release at some point in 2023.
Nier
Nier is one of the latest new characters introduced in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. Voiced by Noriko Shitaya/Jenny Yokobori, she uses summons that can help her in combat. While brief footage of Nier has been revealed, the trailer shown at Anime Expo hasn’t yet been released to the public. However, fans can expect more information about the newcomer to bannounceded in the coming months.

Nier wasn’t the only news Cygames revealed about the Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. The upcoming release will also feature some new mechanics. These include replacing the rush mechanic from the first game with something new called “Raging Chain.” There’s also a new feature called Partners. Based on the little information Cygames provided, it involves a partner giving you encouragement and praise at some point during or after the match.
The developers also hinted at the potential for guest characters in the upcoming release. Lastly, they also revealed more information about the forthcoming beta from July 26-30. The beta will feature the previously announced Siegfried and will be first accessible to random applicants. From July 28-30, it will be entirely open to everyone.
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising will release later in 2023. It will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. Fans should expect to hear more information about the game, including the official release date, later in the summer.
