Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade Confirmed for Ubisoft Forward

    You don't have phones?

Last year was the official fifteen-year anniversary of Assassin’s Creed. In Ubisoft’s official showcase, they announced Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the next mainline Assassin’s Creed game. They also teased the next more modern AC games, namely Codename Red and Codename Hexe. But one of the stranger announcements at the showcase was Codename Jade.

Set to take place during Ancient China, the game seemed like an interesting new entry to the franchise. What perplexed people however is that it would be a mobile-exclusive game. As a result, compared to the other Assassin’s Creed announcements, Jade was far more divisive and less anticipated. But regardless of your interest in the franchise, Ubisoft plans to showcase more of the game at their Ubisoft Forward event in June.

    A New Dynasty

Ubisoft officially announced that they would be showing more of the upcoming game at their conference. The announcement was paired with new promo art, as well as a tagline: “Step out of the shadows and into a vast world of ancient China.” Back in the official announcement, they teased that the game would have the typical open-world mechanics. Ubisoft also confirmed that the game would allow the player to create their own Assassin for the first time in franchise history.

While Assassin’s Creed Jade is set to be released on mobile only, it seems like they are trying not to compromise, even with the new platform. The gameplay will have the traditional series staples, namely parkour and stealth mechanics. It will be interesting to see if these efforts work for them, especially with how divisive the last few games have been.

The Ubisoft Forward will be on June 12th, 2023. It will 1 pm EST and 10 am PST. Stay tuned to Final Weapon for our coverage of the conference, as well as the future of Assassin’s Creed.
