Mobile RPG World II World to Shut Down After Just Five Months

First launched on February 22, 2023.

Aniplex and Deskworks!-developed mobile RPG World II World is shutting down after just five months of service. Thus far, the mobile game has only been available for three months in Japan on Android and iOS.

An official notice on the World II World website confirms the mobile RPG will shut down completely on July 31. The development team apologizes for the sudden termination of service announcement as it can no longer provide entertaining and enjoyable content going forward. Moreover, sales of the premium Gravity Stones currency and 30-day pass are no longer available starting today, May 31. Fans may use any remaining Gravity Stones before the end of service date, however. Refund applications for 30-day passes and paid currency will open on July 31 directly after the game’s service ends.

World II World was originally announced on September 14, 2022 as a new RPG that bridges the worlds of fantasy and reality. Many worlds are in crisis, and players must battle against Divan, the “King of Demise” and orchestrator of the demise of several worlds. The girl named Weave helps guide the player toward saving these worlds and restoring peace. However, this story will come to a close before its potential is fully realized.

World II World is just one of many mobile titles that have announced its end of service in the past 12 months. Other games that have ended service or will soon end service include Shaman King: Funbari Chronicle, Tales of Asteria, Princess Connect! Re:Dive global version, Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, and Sword Art Online: Unleash Blading to name a few. Considering how the current gacha and mobile gaming market is like in Japan, more will surely join that list in the months to come.

World II World is available now for Android and iOS in Japan until July 31, 2023.
